Hello, I came on aboard a couple of months back. Whe I went to log into this new format, I was prompted to see that my username no longer worked. So I had to register again. Is that how the new site has started up? Did I lose my original username. Cause I only see 3 users here. Too bad we lost all the other postings along with the people. Well here I am back again, just busting to ask any questions that I might have regarding the BikeE. My feet falling asleep was the only problem I am having. Anyway just a new greeting letter to let you all know I am back into this website. ;D Flitz aka Tom

Tom,
Good to have you back. What type of shoes do you wear. I feel that they need to have fairly stiff soles. I wear mountain bike shoes by Cannondale and there are some times that my feet would go to sleep if I am in hilly terrain. I just wiggle my toes when I stop for a rest and the feeling comes back.
At the minute it is either too cold or wet to go out but I'm looking forward to next spring to get back out again.
Regards,
Robin.

I had to switch to a different message board provider so all of the old user names were lost. You can re-register here though with your old username and it should work fine. The pop-up ads on the old board were causing some users to have problems. My appologies for any inconvienence but I think this new board is much more user friendly. Admin

Hello, I had just purchased a used CT I believe? How do I find any literature, (operators manual) and other misc. items about this bike. I don't even know what year it is can someone help me, or point me in the right direction.
This is my first "bent" and fell in love with it after test riding.
Thanks for your help. jw

jw, There are brochures on the BikeE Pages where you would be able to determine what model you have. The CT is the only one without suspension so it should be more reliable. There is nothing unusual about it regarding maintenance for it does use conventional components. Go to the SRAM website if you need advice about setting up the gearing. Philip will also be able to help you. A photograph of the bike would help if you are still unsure about the age of your BikeE.
It is the best bike I have ever had.
Regards,
Robin.

Jw, like Robin said, take a look through the BikeE pages and you will find most of the info you need. There are a few methods to narrow it down however:
1: If the rear stays are silver and rivited to the frame, then your CT is older than 2001. 2: If the seat back is only about 1 foot high, opposed to 2 feet high then your CT is older than 1999.

Just like the earlier "message poster", when I tried to climb back in here, my old username/p-w was defunct too. A chance for a whole "new identity"! I have two questions for the group: 1. My rear struts are silver and riveted to the topbar, AND the seatback is much less than 2' tall...so it's older than 1999, right? Does the stamped serial number on each of our bikes match up to a salvaged bikeE official sheet of numbers, so we can look up the date each of our bikes were made? 2. There's been lots of message board traffic regarding speeds attainable on a bikeE, and many have hooted about the tires called Primo Comets, and Hookworms. I just checked and my tires (acquired with the used bike) and they are Cheng Shinn, holding 60-90 lbs., knobby tread. No one's even mentioned them in the exchange--two thumbs down? Den/Seattle

Den,
Can't help you on the year of manufacture of your BikeE. Some of us have found the Cheng Shinn tyres a bit wooden and slow. I felt that they gave a very hard ride so a friend of mine offered me a set of Primo Comets. I had changed to Maxxis Hookworms in the meantime and they were good. Bombproof and great for hardpack as well as the open road but I wanted a bit more speed. The Primo Comets did the trick. They give quite a comfortable ride and I have managed to improve my average speed by 1½ - 2 mph over a 25 mile ride. I seem to climb hills that bit better. It could be all in the mind but I like them. Schwalbe do sizes to suit the BikeE but I cannot find them here.
Regards,
Robin.
