Hey all! I'm a cyclist (recreational) of many years and I have recently been shopping for a recumbent. I enjoy my mountain bike- but as our energy thirst has changed they way we live, traveling to ride trails is far less appealing than it used to be- and road/path riding is getting uncomfortable on it. But I digress.
In the past weeks, I've been researching many, many recumbents, and paid many a visit to my trusted first-name-basis cycle shop and plopped my rear upon many comfy (and not so comfy) 'bent' chassis'. My last ride was an unknown year BikeE AT, that I absolutely had to have. It hasn't seen many miles, and was a bit dusty- but recenly traded in and fresh for the pickins. It was by far the most comfortable and rode the best, and the price was hard to beat. (If I hadn't bought it, it was headed for Ebay) My 'people' are giving her a good cleaning and mechanical once-over so that I make take delivery this week. I can't wait!
After finding this site, I scoured the pages for tech info and problems/fixes as well the BikeE community. I have a few simple questions about my new baby that should be easily answered.
1. The seat sliders seem to be a faulty and much-discussed item. (I found the recall info from a few years back) Now that I know they are faulty (or have the possibility of failing), if care is taken with them, can I just leave them be? Or should I buy the new-and-improved set right off the bat?
2. How can I find out what year my AT was born? Is it a simple color-defines-the-year thing or do I have to decode the serial number? (Cliff notes anyone? )
