Question regarding rear suspension: Has anyone discovered a better pump or method of inflating the suspension than the little hand pump that was supplied with the bike?

The BikeE pump works well for me, especially because it has an accurate, high-pressure gauge and loses very little to no pressure when attaching / removing the nozzle from the suspension. If you find something better and inexpensive, let me know!

I'm curious... define "better". It does exactly what I'd want it to do. It inflates the shock accurately and, as said, it loses virtually no air when disconnecting. That can't be said for many air pumps.

I just took my 1999 AT and NX out of mothballs and used the pump - which the dealer SOLD me - and found it to be very effective. I'd have to agree with the comments, it certainly doesn't lose much air during disconnect.

I think the Bike E shock pump is as good as it gets. They still sell it, just without the Bike E name.

tgentry - You said they still sell it, but without the BikeE name. What is the brand name and model of the pump? Thanks.

My AT didn't come with the air pump, but the one off my '96 Kona works just fine. I would bet just about any shock pump would work. I am using a Fox HP Pump which is good for 275 Lbs of pressure.

I bought a little, cheap, 12 volt air pump at the local hardwhere store for $14 the gauge goes to 250 lbs. it has the quick clamp, runs off a cigarette lighter socket and works just fine for up to 250 lbs. hope this helps.....

My Bike E was unridden for about 5 years since the last time it was pressurized. Now it won't hold pressure. Has anyone else had this experience? Are there rebuild kits available?

i hate the frame pumps! i'm an amputee, so trying to work a wonky pump with just one hand ain't gonna happen just like those stupid effing pumps at gas stations with the rubber bit in between the trigger & nozzle.
while maybe not as accurate or high pressure, i got my shock up to about 180lbs with a specialized floor pump. i probably lost a lot of that though disconnecting as i found all it takes is 2 quick taps on the valve release to almost totally empty a shock.
