No coaster wheel

I recently bought a Bike E, but it has only the deraillier...no coaster gears. The left handle bar grip has no shifter, so it doesn't look like the wheel was just changed out.
Does anyone have any idea what this is. Can a coaster wheel be added...should it be?

I assume you mean no hub gear. I never heard of a BikeE without a hub gear apart from those with the centre drive triple chainset (RX etc). Peter Stull aka Bicycleman has a Sachs 3 x 7 hub listed for sale on his website

You need gear change, housing and cable. Peter would advise you what's required. Also try Mike Librik at www.easystreetrecumbents.com/.
