In light of my 2001 Silver BikeE RX Serial# F10041 being stolen on Thanksgiving Holiday 2010 I have been researching the modern day equivalent of our beloved bicycles. I purchased the BikeE RX after some extensive research on recumbents. Wheel base lengths and their effect on narrow street u-turns were a consideration along with how high the rider sits for spine comfort and visibility to motor vehicles. The Bottom Line: Based on value, sales points, and aesthetics I have determined the following Make and Model to be the Modern Day Equivalent recumbent bicycle to the BikeE model RX: Maxarya RAY-1X Rear Suspension $ 1665.00 www.bicycleman.com/recumbents/maxarya/maxarya.htm

Wow, that is a good one. I've been looking around also for an equivalent. I still have my standard Bike E, but I like to look at other stuff to see what I'd get if I ever had to replace mine. You found one that I didn't. Thanks for posting!
Sorry for your loss......

Thanks. I did the research per the Insurance requirement to recover my loss.
One of the sales points I forgot to mention was the rider seat to peddle height. Specifically, the BikeE's pedals are lower than the rider's seat. This brings your feet closer to the ground for faster reaction times to catch yourself from falling over.
New riders are more aptly to imagine themselves peddling away on the BikeE than other two-wheeled recumbents.

I really like the Evox made in Canada. I haven't ridden one yet, but the looks are on lock. Attachments:

I can tell with one quick look I would not want one.....seats too high-pedals too low.....totally wrong ergonomically for a bent. If if the pedals are not pretty much inline with your butt horizontally you can not get the power to the pedals.Try one, you will see what i mean real quick.Had a friend that bought on of the bikeman trikes...useless as an udder on a bull .... Another wannabe bent You can buy a lot of BikeE's for $1600..There are 3 AT's on Minneapolis Craigslist right now...One fairly reasonable the other 2 not so much. I have bought 4 BikeE's in 2 years...2 AT's, a RX and a CT and did not pay over $200 for any of them
