Hello, I am a "new" BikeE owner with a 1999 CT and a 2002 CT. Just wondering out of the 213 listed members how many actually stop in to read or post. Seem like there is not much traffic here. If you are reading this just reply with something, anything, so we can see who is (if any) still hanging around I would love to hook up with others in the Seattle area. Hope to hear from someone, Ron

I'm not from Seattle, although I visited once I liked it very much. A very unique section of the country. I come to this site often, especially since I have an ad here . It's pretty much a dead site. Are you interested in a great FX Kevin

I come to this site often, especially since I have an ad here . It's pretty much a dead site. Hey Kevin, Thanks for the reply. Yeah this place looks dead I wonder if there is another more active forum for Bike-E, if so I have not found it. Being a new Bike-e owner I am scouring for all the info I can find. With all the the people on ebay buying Bike-E parts you think there would be more active users here. Oh well... I will pass on the offer for the FX, my 1999 CT might end up on ebay, whole or parted out in pieces. I only Really have room for 1 bike. Ron

Hi, I've really appreciated this site and am thrilled that Philip has kept it going, even though he no longer has a BikeE. My first recumbents were BikeEs and I knew little to nothing about them. BikeE had just gone out of business and these pages gave me some really good information. Although I have since purchased other recumbents I still own and love my BikeEs, especially for trail riding. I did a 15 mile ride just today. You might want to try the Yahoo Groups, BikeEForever or the BikeE-List @ whettens.org/mailman/listinfo/bikee-list. Still not much action but it keeps you in touch. Happy riding ;D Chris

Hey doughboy, I live near Seattle.
I actually had to re-register at this site because it had been so long since I'd visited that i no longer have whatever email address I registered with.
I'd love to see this site revive to some extent, but I guess we may as well join an Edsel club; we're a dying breed.

Chris thanks for the appreciation note. BikeEs are no longer made so their ownership numbers are getting less and less as the months go by. Numbers will continue to dwindle until there are only a few because if used properly a BikeE will eventually wear out. The hosting of The BikeE Pages continues to cost money every month and I haven't received a donation in over a year. However, I will continue to keep the information available as long as I can so adoptive parents can have it. The message board will be what people make it so I incourage everyone to ask questions and those with some knowledge to answer them. This is your message board.

Hello folks. Thanks for providing this resource. I'm in the UK, had a CT for several years, but only used it in the initial year I bought it, as work & our location conflicted with recumbent bike riding. Anyway, I've blown the dust off it (literally :-) ) blown up the tyres (after repairing the rear inner tube) & rode ~ 9 miles this evening. I'd forgotten just how pleasant & relatively speedy, the CT is! I also forgot about having a hub gear & a derailleur, occasionally pausing to change when I shouldn't (derailleur) & changing when I should have paused (hub). I have been riding an upright folder for the last year, but with only 1 gear, hence me thinking CT is speedy :-)
I had a couple of hairy moments when I slowed dramatically, yet I didn't brake. Then I realised the cable tie had ridden up the steering tube & the rear brake cable was getting caught by the left pedal. Also twice the right hand grip shifter for the derailleur parted company from its housing! Eventually I got the handlebar grip off, & noticed how the shifter grip should fit, & it's working again. Do any of you have a pointer to photo's & or a manual for these things please? ISTR that I didn't actually get a proper BikeE manual when I bought the bike from the dealer over here.
Regarding bike wear, presumably most bits, apart from frame, & seat are fairly standard? I see Sachs is now SRAM. Is there also a manual specifically for the 3*7 available online?
I hope to be riding this more often now. I put a Schwalbe big apple tyre on the front, as I think I "borrowed" the original tyre for my folding bike. Tonight I fitted a simple wireless bike computer, & a bottle cage, & will be doing maybe a few more additions, so if there's anything on a CT that any of you think I might be able to help with, please ask.
cj
PS. We visited Seattle about 9 years ago, & found it very pleasant, probably really nice for cycling. The wall with the Jimmy Hendrix painting really stuck in my mind.

Yes, it does, thanks. I'm wondering what make exactly the brakes are. They're both black alloy V-brakes, but no name on them anywhere, so I don't know if they're Tektro or Shimano, or Is there a list of brakes that have been fitted over BikeE's history?

Hi,
I live in Seattle and ride a modified CT model Bike E. If any other Seattle area Bike E owners would be up for going on a group ride, please contact me.

Hi, just adding my two-pence worth - UK (N Ireland actually) - one of very few BikeE in Ireland, and I'd like to add my appreciation for this site. When I got my used CT in September 2008 this site gave me great info, and has continued! So Big Thanks to Philip - your generosity is appreciated. I'm an almost daily lurker here, sometime contributor, to give back what I can from my really limited experience. Cheers to all BikeE bent riders!! Wish there were more in NI! Brian
