Was stopped at a redlight this past weekend when a fellow pulled up beside me in a pickup with a mountain bike in the back. He wanted to buy my BikeE for $500 plus his mountain bike. Now that's a lot of money and his bike was nice but I had no problem turning him down. Now is that like having a girlfriend and turning down a beautiful woman that hits on you in a bar? Must be true love ;D

Philip,
I somehow doubt that that could happen over here. It's nice to see the BikeE is appreciated. I have been contacted by the owner of the other BikeE in Ireland. He left his phone number so I must phone him to compare notes.
Regards,
Robin.
PS Nice to see a bit more traffic on the board.

Philip,
I have made contact with the owner of the other BikeE in Ireland. He lives in Omagh. He would sell his BikeE as he has five bikes and wants a lighter bike to go out on club runs with the local cycle club. He has a 2000CT in red with a sweet seat. He says it is very comfortable but too slow. I'd love to see it.
Regards,
Robin.
PS Omagh is about 70 miles away so it's a bit far. I must ask him to send me a photo.

Be nice if you could get one for Robert. That's probably a CT 2.0 which is what I have. Different frame and seat to yours. It also will have the older sram 3x7 hub. Hop in the old estate and head over there.

Always worth a shot. He might be willing to part with it for a hundred quid. ;D

No mission! He paid £600 for it. I still would like to see it.

I actually picked up another Trek 520 last week at a great price. $1200 bike for $300 ;D Its a 99 model and had hardly been ridden. The frame is a little larger than my 2003 520 and more suitable. It came with full racks, fenders and tools I'll be selling my 2003 soon. Christmas money. heheheee

I don't know how you do it! Will you have any problems getting a buyer and a decent price for your original Trek? I never had a problem selling wedgies, only problem was selling my PDQ but then, this is Northern Ireland! A backwater for 'bents.
Regards,
Robin.

I've seen at least one more BikeE in my town, but that was last summer. I'll have to see when I'm out riding if it's still around.

We all need to buy any parts that are available as they are becoming scarce. I have most of the parts to replace the brakes and drivetrain so I should be ok for several years.

Hi Guys, I live in Ireland, county Kildare and have owned a BikeE since 1999 that I bought in Corvallis Oregon.
Its the non-suspension version, it has a bottle cage fitted and a bar-end mirror. It has the high strength back wheel (Rhino I think...lots of spokes in it).
I also bought a carrier for it called the Load-LLama - it allowed me carry my briefcase to work while living in the USA.
I brought the bike home and needless to say get lots of funny looks !!
Keep in touch.
Eric.

I just bought my BikeE FX from Spring Creek Recumbents in Fort Collins, CO. They had it on consignment and the owner moved without providing any forwarding info. I got it for $475.
I'm in the Boulder, Colorado, area and there are quite a few BikeE's around. Even in the little town I'm in (Niwot), I saw a lady riding a red BikeE to the post office. A tech at Full Cycle Bicycles in Boulder uses his RX for trail-riding (it's good to have a bike tech who likes BikeEs!). And I've seen a tandem BikeE at the Boulder Farmers' Market.
But that's Boulder for you...
