One more BikeE survivor here!
I have a 2002 RX, and I love it! I ride an uprights all winter, so th is time of year always gets me excited to pull out the RX. I cleaned it up last weekend, but the weather has since turned again.

I'd been interested in trying a recumbent and when I saw one at Goodwill I just had to buy it. Until I researched the BikeE I did not know what a treasure I found. I look forward to some good weather in Wis. to ride it.

Hi! I just logged in as a new member and voted as a new parent. My GF bought an AT for me that I found on eBay, she already has a CT. I love this bike and am sorry to see that it is no longer being made. Whenever I ride in my neighborhood, everyone says they want one. I'll log in periodically to see what's new. Cheers! Richard

Hello All,
I recently purchased a BikeE AT model. I have installed two new tires and look forward to biking this summer. I converted from a Specialized mountain bike and love the BikeE. I look forward to utilizing your site to share information.
Does anyone transport their BikeE on a roof top carrier? I am looking at a Thule V2 attachment and wanted to know if you think this will work well with a stock VW rack. I believe I will also need to purchase a TH532 ride on adapter. Thanks in advance. Peter

Hi Everyone,
I was able to obtain a 2001 or 2002 BikeE AT from Kijiji.ca - a lucky find, as it was in good condition and reasonably priced. I know the bike is discontinued but that makes it more fun (searching out parts, and enjoying the 'rareness' of my bike. Only had it a few days and trying to master riding it.
Thanks for the forum. I hope to learn from your experience.

complete noob, but I just bought my first bent last night, a Bike E CT XL model. I found it on ebay close by me and it's in almost brand new condition. Question, are the bottle mounts supposed to be on the front side of the stem or does this have the stem turned the wrong way? If so, then the grip shifters and brakes are mounted wrong too I'm finding lots of interesting information on line and this site looks to be a valuable resource

Brad,
I would not advise turning the handlebars so the bottle cage mounts are on the rear for, if it is the same as the one I have, the handlebars would not be orientated correctly. The handlebars curve very slightly in toward you allowing the hands to rest naturally on the grips.I have a top loading stem with mountain bike bars on mine and the bottle cage sits on the front. It's tidier that way. The shifter for the hub should be on the left and the one for the derailleur on the right. Send me a photo if you would like to. robinparkes@yahoo.co.uk
Regards, Robin.

okay cool. that's exactly what I thought. Just seems weird to have it in front. I suppose I could move the reflector down so it's out of the way.

I have owned a 1996 CT XL since 1996, when I started commuting by bike to work. It has been and continues to be the best recumbent I have ever tried for city biking and commuting. That is why I haven't owned a car for 10 years! I also exchanged some work I did for two almost new late 1990's CT's, one being the standard length and the other being an XL. With my fleet of 3 bike E's, I am able to ride with my wife and a house guest at the same time. This sometimes causes people to ask where we rented them. It is also nice to have two backup bikes when my main one has any rare mechanical issues. You could say I am sorely disappointed by the demise of the Bike E manufacturer since I have had so many people ask me where they can buy one.

I've ridden my stepfather's '97 CT for years and loved every turn of the crank. Just the other day, I got an awesome craigslist score and picked up a '00 AT that had been originally received as a gift, ridden only ONCE and then sat in the womans garage for 6 or 7 years. Forgive me for bragging, but she didn't really know what she had and so I only paid $200! If I never get another good deal in my life, I'll still die a happy jew... But for any price, I am STOKED to have this incredible bike. I am going to take immaculate care of it and try to make it last the rest of my life. If I can pass it along to my grandchildren, even better.
